The changes in v8.0.0 of the Structure Simulation Toolkit (SST) are divided into three areas: general, PDES-core and integrated elements.

General:

SST v8.0 includes optimizations to enable better performance and scaling for multi-node and multi-threaded simulations

SST-Core:

Added ability to use custom time vortex modules for optimizing event delivery and simulation performance
Added max/min fields for statistics in the core
Fixed a bug handling self-partitioning
Issue warnings for zero latency links

SST-Elements:

Added the Kingsley network-on-chip mesh model
Added support for Ramulator
Ariel can now forward application data into simulated memory subsystems
Added HyperX topology to Merlin
Fixes several bugs in Ariel memory allocation and page mapping
Added Stake simulation core to Miranda for RISC-V simulation
Added OpenSHMEM model support in Ember motifs
Added new communication pattern motifs for Ember
Several fixes for MPI operations and timing in Ember/FireFly
Improved performance for large-scale network simulations
Fixed an alignment issue with Juno memory operations
Fixes to Samba TLB model for scalable simulation

SST-Macro:

Bug fixes and performance improvements
Improved auto-skeletonization support
Additional topologies and routing algorithms, including Dragonfly+ and progressive adaptive routing
Integration of fcontext, no more Boost dependencies
Defined hierarchy of congestion models for trading off accuracy/speed of simulation

Known Issues (see open issues for repos):

Known incompatibilities:

Only PIN 2.14 is supported on SST 8.0 due to newer PIN based tools inability to support non-Intel based libraries.
PIN 2.14 does not run on newer Linux Kernels (ex. Ubuntu 16.04), OSX 10.12/10.13
- Ariel Element requires PIN
- Prospero (Pin Feature) requires PIN
- memHierarchy Element (Sieve Feature) requires Ariel
Scheduler Element is not multi-core compliant (Cannot run across multiple MPI ranks)
Ariel Element (Ivy Bridge Feature) does not run on OSX
Ariel Element (Sandy Bridge Feature) does not run on OSX
Ariel Element (Sandy Bridge Feature) is not multi-core compliant (Cannot run across multiple MPI ranks)
Miranda Element (SingleStream Feature) is not multi-core compliant (Cannot run across multiple MPI ranks)
Miranda Element (RandomGen Feature) is not multi-core compliant (Cannot run across multiple MPI ranks)
Sirius Element (Zodiac 27 Feature) does not support serialization
Zoltan 3.83 does not properly build on Ubuntu 18.04
